I recently read Unschooling Rules by Clark Aldrich. Fantastic book about how we need to rethink education for the remarkable economy.
The ways in which we were educated prepared us for success in the last economy, not the next economy. And it strikes me that remarkable leaders have been the best at ‘unschooling’ themselves, and that the process of becoming remarkable requires that we ‘unschool’ ourselves.
The industrial economy prized memorization, compliance and conformity. The remarkable economy rewards individuality, creativity and service to others.
It may take some extra effort to unpack the thoughts, emotions and dreams you suppressed to succeed in the last economy, but digging them out of the attic, dusting them off and taking them for a ride again will be well worth the effort.
The remarkable economy is here, time to ‘unschool’.
