One of the things that bonds many business owners and leaders is their desire to not be the “man” (or woman) that employees grouse about.
We want to be more special than that. We want to make a positive and lasting impact.
Yet the prevailing management attitude mindset, the mindset of ‘mass management’ can cause us become more like that ‘man’ (or woman) than we care to admit.
A wise man shared this quote with me, “If our character and our reputation were to meet, they would scarcely recognize one another.”
It is so easy to pursue success and fall into the most common management habits and mistakes. And in the process, become a version of the ‘man’ that we so desperately want to avoid being.
If you’re aiming for ‘success’ then perhaps you don’t care. But if you’d rather become remarkable then being the ‘man’ just won’t do.
Are you as remarkable as you want to be?
