How was your day?

People who like their jobs the most are also the ones who are doing the most interesting and challenging work…they’re also the ones making the greatest impact and growing the most.

That changes how they see the world and how the world sees them.  It even changes how they see themselves.

They feel great because they know that they are actually changing the world, not just going through the motions.

How you consistently feel about your work is an indicator of how much you are impacting others.

3 Reasons why the time to tribe is now

1- More and more people realize every day that people just like them are doing cool things, often earning more money, but always earning more satisfaction.  Have you been to the Nike Campus?  If you haven’t go, or at least Google pictures of it, and tell me you wouldn’t want your work to feel like THAT?!

2- More and more organizations are discovering that the factory model of management is not only getting less and less profitable, it’s also getting harder and harder to get those ‘human machines’ to ‘stand up and fly straight’ as my Father in-law likes to say.

3- More and more consumers have decided to spend their money buying things that aren’t factory-produced commodities.  They’re getting wary of off-the-shelf ideas.  And why not?  Apple has been showing us that technology doesn’t have to be clunky and ugly and difficult.  Rules are being broken left and right, and each instance teaches us that we didn’t have to settle after all, and that we don’t have to keep settling.

All three of these point to an uncomfortable and ultimately incredible conclusion;

People want to do work that is remarkable, organizations have more leverage than ever before to actually be remarkable, and the market is literally begging for remarkable products and experiences.

You’ve waited long enough to make a mark, now is your time.

A little faith goes a long way

Tribal leadership is about faith in an idea, a leader, in a community…not economic dependence.

Do you believe in what you do every day?  I mean REALLY, REALLY believe.

Can you describe it to a child?  Can they see why what you do is important…not groceries important…you can pay for the grocery list many ways…I mean important to our world, to your world, to their world no matter how large or small you define it.

Belief is a brilliant strategy.

Heavy Metal

Without leaders, there are no followers…without followers there is no loyalty….without loyalty there no premium, no resilience…there’s little margin for error…then commoditization…disengagement…mediocrity.

Wait!  That’s not what you’re about.

Your title doesn’t make you a leader, your leadership makes you a leader.  If you’re in charge, where are you taking us and why?  (sales quotas and paychecks aren’t heavy enough reasons)

Here’s the gold.  The heavier your reason is, the more likely you are to make your quota.
